SWCP - Exmoor & North Devon

The South West Coast Path along the Exmoor and North Devon coast is very diverse.  Leaving Minehead behind the route passes over heath covered moorland, through coastal woodland an onto dramatic jagged rocky outcrops before the route becomes more gentle, with low cliff and sandy beaches. The route then passes through sand dunes before traversing the
Taw and Torridge Estuaries to arrive at Westward Ho!
Along the route you will enjoy the picturesque harbour of Porlock Weir, Culbone Church (the smallest parish church in England), The Valley of Rocks with its jagged rocky outcrops perched high above the cliffs, the deep gorge of the Heddon Valley and the long sandy beaches around Woolacombe. Along the way you will visit numerous picturesque seaside towns and villages in order to obtain refreshments and maybe an ice cream of cream tea.

  • Tackling the highest coastline in England with its challenging climbs and descents.
  • Watching the wildlife along the route, including birds of prey, red deer and ponies.
  • Climbing over Great Hangman, the highest point along the South West Coast Path.
  • The dramatic Atlantic coastline and its sandy beaches.
