The South West Coast Path

The South West Coast Path is Britain's longest waymaked footpath and at 630 miles (1014 km) long gives the opportunity to enjoy some of the finest coastal landscapes in Britain.

The route traces its origins back to the 19th century when coastguards patrolled the dramatic coastline on the lookout for smugglers.

Starting from Minehead on the edge of Exmoor to the shores of Poole Harbour, the route offers a varied landscape from moorland stretches, steep coastal valleys, sandy beaches, harbours, sheltered estuaries and rugged clifftops and offers the ultimate challenge for the long distance walker.

The route has been divided into 9 sections as detailed below.

We have selected the best "Season" dates for all sections of the walk, based upon the availability of necessary Ferry's and Services , but we would be happy to discuss other dates if required.
